Meet Niku-278 — a glittering young asteroid girl trapped in the most boring orbit in the cosmos. Circling the gas giant Jupp with her icy parents and a billion frozen neighbors, she dreams of... something more. Lightyears away, on the scorched, post-apocalyptic planet Urth, a lonely slave boy named Azaz sends a prayer into the universe: There must be something more to life! His thoughts hitch a ride on a stray photon—straight to Niku’s heart. Geysers of pink explode from her craters. She’s in love. And nothing—not even the gravitational pull of a billion asteroids—can stop her now.
Urth: A Paradise Lost
On Urth, things are bleak. The last scraps of humanity cling to life in a sunburnt startup-settlement surrounded by infinite sand. Society is strictly divided: Workers sweat it out on dino farms and cactus greenhouses, their minds monitored by sinister BrainBraces. Meanwhile, the Elite sip cocktails in floating jacuzzis and undergo glittery cosmetic surgeries, courtesy of the unsettling genius, Doctor Raptor. His most devoted patient, the Emperor, is practically a vegetable floating in his royal pond. Looming above all is Admiral Rex, a military brute who smells rebellion in the air.
In this dystopian society, laborers are forced to collect their own sweat, which is then funneled to the walled-off Elite Zone. There, it’s used not just for drinking or bathing, but to nourish the Elite’s living fashion—luxurious Plant Implants™ that bloom from their skin. On a dried out planet, nothing says luxury like a geranium growing out of your armpit.
Azaz, though trapped in this dystopia, dreams vividly of something better. Literally. His one joy? A crumpled comic book about the legendary space hero Maverick Mack. Each night, Azaz escapes into a dazzling dreamscape where he is Mack, battling Crab People and rescuing the radiant Princess Esmara. But the line between dream and reality begins to blur—because Niku has entered his dreams, secretly slipping into the body of Esmara to win his heart from within.
High in the jagged mountains, a third faction watches the skies: the Mutants. Part human, part dinosaur, they were bred in forgotten labs and exiled by society. But they hold onto one prophecy—a Cosmic Princess will fall for the Chosen One and usher in a new era. Spoiler: they think that’s Azaz. And they might be right.
As Niku nears, her cosmic energy starts shaking things up. BrainBraces malfunction. Workers revolt. Admiral Rex declares martial law. Raptor reveals his true colors—and whisks Azaz to the Mutant Mountains, revealing that he is the Prophet, and Azaz the long-awaited Chosen One. Azaz runs—terrified of the future everyone expects of him.
When Niku sees Azaz flee, her worst fear comes true: rejection. She freezes mid-sky, blocking out Urth’s twin suns. The world descends into chaos—jacuzzis freeze, security systems collapse, the workers revolt, dinosaurs go rogue. Azaz, now a desert-dwelling hermit, must confront the truth: meaning isn’t something that just happens to you. It’s something you choose.
In a final act of love and courage, Azaz climbs aboard one of Rex’s war missiles and launches himself skyward, toward Niku. She hears his heart—finally open—and responds. The two lovers merge in a cosmic embrace, a supernova of passion and light.
From Niku’s frozen form pours a torrent of fresh water, soaking the planet in new life. The desert is flooded, the Old World dissolves, and Urth is reborn—a radiant blue ocean planet teeming with possibility.
